O come, O come Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here,
Until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O Come, Thou Wisdom, Son divine,
Our weaken’d wills to Thee incline!
And shed Thy light o'er life's dark way,
Lest, lured by sin, we go astray.

O Come, Thou Sprout of Jesse's tree,
Free us from Satan's tyranny!
From fires of hell Thy people save,
And give us vict'ry o'er the grave.

O come, Thou King of all the earth,
That we may share Thy wondrous birth!
Come, rule our hearts and mind and will,
That we Thy precepts may fulfil.
